I grew up hating my birthstone, the ruby. Maybe it's the whole "wanting what others have" thing, but luckily I grew out of that because now I adore it. When my grandmother passed away she left each one of her daughters and granddaughters a ring. She left me a beautiful silver ring with a large amber stone. I've only worn it a few times, and have let my mom wear it for the past few years- it's a little too big for me and I prefer gold. Then the other day I was looking at the one my grandma left my mom, and I fell in love. It's a gorgeous 14K gold ring with rubies (well, my grandpa said they are rubies, but they may be garnets- either way it's gorgeous). My mom agreed to switch with me, and I'm pretty sure my grandma wouldn't mind considering how much I love this one.
I can't wait to get it resized so I can wear it every day. Isn't it gorgeous?
i have a ring that my grandma wore everday.
ReplyDeleteit's so precious to me i can't even wear.
something i'll have to warm up to but it has beautiful brown stones.
our grandmothers were classy.
oh, love! I wear my grandma's turquoise ring and adore it!!

oh my, that is STUNNING. i love family heirlooms! i have a gold & jade ring that was my great-grandmother's in the 1920s, and it rarely leaves my finger... i cherish it so much, over anything other pieces of jewelry i have.
ReplyDeleteBea-u-tiful! My bithstone is ruby also! Levi got me a hideous ruby necklace when we were dating and I've still never worn it. I've always been envious of the other stones, but I think I'm warming up to mine!
ReplyDeleteMy great grandmother left me a beautiful pearl bracelet. But shh..don't tell hannah.
WOW, it's beautiful! My grandma left me a black hills silver ring that has a either a garnet or a ruby in the middle of it. I love it, and it always reminds me of her :]
ReplyDeletei absolutely love rubies. i have a ring that was my grandmothers and it has three small ruby stones. i never take it off :)
ReplyDeleteI love itttttt. I also love that you shot this on Charlotte's Web; it's one of my favourites. But that's why we are best friends<3
ReplyDeleteit's gorgeous! so nice of your mom.
ReplyDeleteI am glad mom had this ring...because I was not going to give up my ring that grandma personally picked out for me :) Thank you very much...
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Grandmothers have the best jewels.
ReplyDeletethat IS beautiful! I've always hated my birthstone. It's diamond, and I was always jealous that I had a plain, clear birthstone and everyone else had beautiful different colored birthstones.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty jewel!
ReplyDeleteI love the red colors.
