The Little Rascals.

If you haven't read my blog in the past couple of days, I'm spending this week focusing on what I am thankful for in my life. I have so many things to be thankful for, I could have spent the entire month writing about this. Today's focus are my little kiddos, which I am grateful for every time I see their little stinky faces. If you didn't already know, we have three dogs. Diamond and Wilson were Jordan's dogs before I met him, and I adopted Horton (my first dog) from Jordan's mom before we got married. At first Jordan wasn't going to let me have Horton, but he just couldn't resist his adorable little face, crooked tale, and floppy ears. Who could?

Team Mascots.

I'm not sure how other people get cute pictures of their dogs, because for me... it doesn't happen so often. My dogs just don't like to pose for the camera, and it's extremely frustrating. When the Giants won the World Series, Jordan's mom made Horton and Wilson winter sweaters with their logo on the back. She surprised me with them and I immediately pulled out my camera to take pictures. After chasing my kids around the house for about a half hour, I gave up. You can kind of see the sweater in the top picture. And as you can tell, they started to get tired so in the end I was able to get a few pictures that aren't completely blurry.

Oh, and I tried to convince Horton to be a vegetarian with me, but apparently he loves a good slab of meat as much as his dad does.

It's been awhile since I posted a picture of my little guy, Horton. Look at how stinking adorable he is.



Also, I finally learned how to do rounded corners on my photos without using picnik, thanks to this tutorial.

Apparently he now eats pencils, and tries to look innocent after.

Happy Earth Day.

I thought it was about time for my first DIY, and what better day than Earth Day? Please let me know what you think. I have been wanting to learn how to make a pinwheel for awhile now, and since I didn't have the stuff to make a real one, I figured I'd make one I can wear. And because I love to dress like a five-year old, I made it for my jean jumper (I know, I'm a nerd). Oh, and do you like how Horton snuck into that picture. He begged to be a part of this post, and I just can't say no to him.

So, here's what you need:

Piece of felt.
Piece of pretty fabric.
Glue gun & fabric glue (if you have it).
Button and thread to sew it on.
Pin for the back.

& Here are the simple steps:

1. Cut a square out of the felt and the fabric, making sure they are the same size.

2. Glue the two pieces together, you can use the fabric glue or glue gun.



p.s. I can't believe this glue worked. I snatched it from some of my grandma's old old old sewing stuff. Pretty crazy, huh?

3. Draw a line that connect each corner to it's opposite. Then draw a small circle in the middle (it doesn't matter how pretty it looks because this will be on the back).

4. Cut the lines, but only until you reach the circle that you drew.



5. Flip the square over. Grab the left corner (of one of the triangle shapes) and fold it over to the center of the pinwheel. Glue it down with your hot glue gun. Do that on all four corners, until you have a pinwheel!



6. Now sew on the button in the middle of the pinwheel, and glue the pin on the back. You can also use a hair-clip or simply glue this onto something else if you would rather!



& you're done!

Button Love

Sometimes I like to sit in the music hall on campus and pretend like I'm a talented musician. Yeah, I'm actually waiting to teach the next orchestra class. I left my instruments in my car, can you help me get them?

No, actually it's just the closest building to the parking garage. I'm waiting for my friend who I carpool with, and I'm too lazy to walk all the way to the library. But it is pretty interesting watching all the people with their instruments. I especially love when their bags are so big it looks like they are going to fall over at any minute. Did I really just admit that? I guess I'm not as nice as you thought I was.

On an unrelated note, I finished another Style School project! Well, I kind of did. For this one you were supposed to sew buttons on your pet's leash or collar. I'm lazy and Horton goes through collars too often, so I decided to use glue and forget about the whole needle and thread thing. Yeah, I'm full of good excuses- leave me alone. But it turned out adorable. He is totally a button wearing kind of guy. He tells me every day how much he loves his new collar.











Hannah gave me a big bag of pretty buttons. I'm glad she gave them to me, because if she didn't I was planning on stealing them.

Horton Hears A Who

Horton has had a pretty severe cough off and on for the past 4-5 months. We assumed at first that it was just kennel cough, but it didn't spread and it keeps coming back. So I took him into the vet today and they did a bunch of blood work and took x-rays. I was so nervous all day and I couldn't even eat. I know, I'm pathetic but I love my little guy. I got to look at the x-rays when I went back in. Apparently Horton's heart is slightly enlarged and he probably has asthma. They are sending the x-rays out to a have the lab look at them some more. We won't know until Monday exactly what's going on. Oh, and apparently Horton has digestive problems... he is now on a laxative. Lovely.

Okay, sorry for all that. Probably not the most interesting thing in the world. But for me, it is.

Chi Chi Fever Love

Last night Liz and Glenn came over for dinner, movies, and crafts (well, crafts for the girls). Liz and I went shopping for Style School, but decided to embroider instead. The craft store up the street had Sublime Stitching patterns. Even though I already have a book full of their patterns, I about died when I saw Chi Chi Fever! I love this little guy so much. Just like my Horton, dreaming of bones.









Speaking of crazy Chihuahuas. I gave Horton one of those BegginStrips (sp?) yesterday and he swallowed it whole! Such a little fat kid.

Puppy Love

Okay, so here is my dilemma. I have the most adorable dog in the world. However, he is stubborn and won't let me play dress up with him. If he just understood how much fun it could be. I mean, come on, look at this stuff:


This dog neck warmer is amazing. Emalie makes the best doggie wear ever.


I really (really really) wish Horton and I could wear matching hats. I'm going to make these even if he will only wear it for five seconds. You can find the tutorial for these hats on Elsie's blog here.


And yeah, this monster hat is hilarious.

I'll stop wishing now.

Nobody Can Be Uncheered With A Balloon.

So, the other day I decided that I really want to paint a balloon (or a bunch of balloons) on my wall. I'm thinking about doing them on the wood panel wall in our living room. I figure it won't really matter because I'm the only person that actually likes hideous wood panelling. And when we move someday I'll just paint over the entire wall.

Jordan sent that to me while I was in class. Notice Horton's hoodie. It really says "Gangsta for life" & has gold money signs inside the hood. Yeah, he's amazing.

If you don't already know, I love handmade anything. I am surrounded by ridiculously talented people, and my house is proof of that. Jordan's "Papa" made us some (seriously) amazing furniture. It's the kind of stuff that will be passed down to our kids, and our kid's kids... He is one of those people that is good at everything he puts his mind too, it's annoying. But that's just me be jealous. Here are a few of the pieces we have snagged so far.





He made me this bookshelf after I graduated from Sac State last year. Hannah, my sister, painted that picture of Jordan & me for his birthday. Oh, & the cute painting of the girl is a paint-by-number my mom made when she was little. Why don't they make them that neat anymore? Unicorns are real cool and all, but come on?!






He also made our computer desk. But that room is way too messy to take a picture of right now. I need to work on my organizational skills, ASAP.

I'm still playing with my new phone & the camera apps. Don't mind Horton's evil eyes, or the graininess of everything else. Once I find my actual camera, I'll take some decent pictures for this blog. Promise.
