Where My Heart Resides: Guest Post.

I just wanted to let you all know that I'm guest blogging over at Where My Heart Resides today, while Ashlee is on vacation in Greece (so jealous).

She asked me to share about my favorite vacation spot, so I of course had to pick McCloud, because you all know how obsessed I am.

Fire.

I went to McCloud this weekend for a wedding, and it was amazing. If I were going to marry Jordan again, I would definitely do it in his grandparent's front yard. I will share more pictures soon, but for now here are a few of Hannah & I posing on an old fire engine that was parked out front of the hotel. {I know, I know... we are nerds}.

Hannah made both of the dresses we wore, and I'm (of course) wearing my favorite bow belt from Katie.

A First.

Last Saturday I rode in a limo for the first time. Yes, I'm 26 years old and I've never been in a limousine. No, not even to prom, but thanks to the guy at the grocery store for bringing that one up- I didn't get asked to prom, in fact I didn't get asked to any dances in high school but that's a whole other story. For Holly's bachelorette party, we went wine tasting Saturday afternoon, and I even found a bottle of wine for Jordan called "Cheap Bastard". Holly and Jeremy (Jordan's cousin) are getting married next weekend in McCloud, so you can guess how excited I am for that. We even get to stay in the Mercantile where Jordan and I stayed for our honeymoon. Oh, and Hannah is making Holly's wedding dress- I promise to post pictures of course.

McCloud Part II.

Here are the rest of the pictures from this weekend. Well, maybe not the rest considering I took over 400 pictures. Jordan's grandparents live outside McCloud in a beautiful wood cabin. Their closest "neighbors" are the owners of the Levi Strauss company, who own a bazillion acres, so it's literally in the middle of nowhere. It makes coming back to Sacramento very difficult. I would give just about anything to live in a place like this.

This is the view from their front patio, need I say more?

On Saturday we went for a {very difficult} hike up a mountain to a hidden lake, which overlooks the most beautiful lake in the world, which where I thought we were spending the day. Jordan forgot to mention the part about hiking up a rocky mountain, and I wasn't prepared at all. Who knew hiking in flip flops wasn't that hard? This was probably the most breathtaking place I've ever been, and there was even a guy playing an accordion up the mountainside. Talk about perfection.

{The second picture below is the lake we hiked to, which is at the top of the mountain in the first picture}

That evening we had a BBQ at the cabin, and went out to check on Jordan's tree. His grandparents planted a tree every time a grandchild was born. Isn't that the sweetest thing? Oh, and I learned how to make origami cranes, which I'm using for something fun soon.

Sunday we went on a walk down the railroad tracks to another one of my favorite places in the entire world. You can only get to Moss Spray Falls by walking down a hidden path off the railroad tracks a few miles outside of Dunsmuir.

We went on a bear hunt Sunday night. And by bear hunt, I don't mean we went out trying to shoot a bear. We just went out for a drive looking for bears. We saw deer, and bear poop, but no bears. I sang, "We're going for a bear hunt, we're going for a bear hunt, a mighty mighty bear hunt, mighty mighty bear hunt", until I drove everyone crazy.

McCloud, CA.

I'm home from an amazing weekend full of hiking, waterfalls, hidden lakes, railroads, picnics, pressing wildflowers, dominos, paper cranes, bear hunting, and family. It was perfect. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from this weekend. I will post {A LOT} more tomorrow, after I find my ATM card and buy a pro flickr account that is.
